It makes me think they're actually going to release the game without letting us stack anything let alone have large stacks of stuff like ingots, pipes etc. Originally posted by 18 of Nine:I don't know why I keep running into these same inventory problems in games that are suppose to be about building "great things" Ya'll realize this was brought up LAST YEAR with this game? Like literally they've seem to do everything else but fix the inventory. Grab what you need to live and to build the next item on your list of goals, whether it be a tool, sea base section, vehicle, etc. You should not be scouring the entire ocean and stuffing it into your pocket. Similarly, the Cyclops can hold a staggering number of lockers, becoming a mobile warehouse. If a player is concerned with being able to carry more materials back to base, the Seamoth can be upgraded with storage compartments. The player must make a choice whether space is better spent on tools or loot. If you want to be prepared for a greater number of scenarios, you'll want to bring more items with you: a couple air tanks, knife, scanner, flashlight, dive reel, some flares, seaglide to get around, food and water, a beacon to find your way back to something interesting, stasis rifle or repulsion cannon to keep off bitey critters, medkits for when that fails with all this preparation, there's no room left in inventory. Even with the benefit of something akin to a cargo net, how would the character swim with all this mass? How would the character enter the cramped cabin of the Seamoth? Stacking items would only make this even more ridiculous. Ignoring the weight of these items, they would still be bulky. Perhaps craftable bag upgrades, etc.Īt present, your character is capable of carrying a dozen units of metal salvage, each of which appears to be approximately the size of an adult human.

WoW went through this over the course of the game, so I hope Subnautica will evolve this as well. to get materials for crafting now, it takes LOTS of trips. I understand limited storage space is important, but jeez. Titanium ingots take 10 titanium to create, titanium should stack.Ĭonsumables should also stack. Tools/suit equipment should be in dedicated suit slots - perhaps limit to 5 tool "holsters", so you have to choose which tools to take. I'm actually surprised the inventory system isn't further along. This could be a easy fix, it boils down to will they do it or not. If the plan is to keep it the way it is then the items should be stackable and ok with a limit of like 5 for each matching item. The ones you have on and the ones you don't. Now if you have two sets of fins I get it one on each side. I reaaly think after the first tank it should be one by a 1 or 2 tank icon on the equipment side and have the tanks upgraded and that none of the equipment (I feel) should even show up in the inventory side of the PDA. I really think ALL Equipment should be on the Equipment side.
